Passing Down Cherished Stories ...
"What are your cultures like?"
I have a mix of heritage with my dad being from the Philippines and my mom being a mix of European cultures such as Italian, English, Danish, and Czechoslovakian. We enjoys lots of recipes passed down from previous generations from both sides of my family. From my mom’s European side, some favorite Northern Italian dishes are handmade raviolis and fresh made biscottis and from my dad’s side, we enjoy pork adobo and beefsteak Tagalog along with more delicacies from Filipino restaurants and grocery stores. One common core value among all my heritage is the value of family and the endless love and support we all have for each other.
"What do you cherish most about your cultural heritage?"
I cherish my cultural heritage because I love hearing stories from my parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles and I love learning more about cultural traditions and values. I love that one day I will be able to share these cherished stories with my children and they, too, can pass these stories down, keeping our cultural heritage an important part of who we are. I am very fortunate to have been able to visit the beautiful Philippines and I hope to visit there again as well as visit all around Europe, especially the places that my family came from. I am very proud of my heritage and I hope people get the chance to visit and learn more about these incredible places!
