You Can Find Joy in the Smallest Moments ...
"What is Pakistan like?"
Despite living in America for my whole life, Pakistan truly feels like home to me. It is filled with such welcoming people with various, incredible talents. The most welcoming aspect of Pakistan is shown through its blend of cultures. Within Pakistan, there are Balochi, Sindhi, Pashtun, Punjabi, Kashmiri, and many more people who are all a little similar yet so different. Walking down the streets of Pakistan, there will never be a dull moment: whether it be a monkey peeling a banana on a bicycle, children dancing in the rain, or a woman selling gajre (flower-petal bracelets), there is an incredible amount of joy found in the smallest moments.
"What do you cherish most about your cultural heritage?"
I highly cherish my closeness to my cultural heritage. My parents, especially my mom, have always put in effort to continue our cultural traditions in future generations. From little traditions of sharing saviyaan (sweet vermicelli) with friends and family on special days, to huge celebrations on Eid, cultural heritage greatly influences our daily lives. Keeping culture close is what has shaped who I am today!
