Like No Other Place On Earth ...
"What is Hawaii like?"
Hawaii is like no other place on earth. The climate is tropical, but not muggy and unpleasant. The trade wind blows at all times, and it's comfortable throughout the year. People move slower and are not in a rush. They don't compete for individual success but corporate (kokua) one another. That's the island way. Aloha means goodwill, and people carry aloha toward each other.
"What do you cherish most about your cultural heritage?"
My adopted home, Hawaii, is special because of "Aloha." I am proud of Hawaii's laid back and warm culture. It brings out the best in people. It is easier to make friends in Hawaii. Anyone older in your neighborhood is called "uncle" and "auntie." Sometimes students call their teachers "Uncle/Aunt." I can't think of any other places in the US that allows this type of affection between students and teachers.
